Termination of enrollment (Exmatrikulation) - SAP

Exmatrikulation means that you completely drop out of your degree program and quit your affiliation to our university. Cancelling enrollment removes all fees and indicated the return of the Student ID card. Please consider that cancelling your enrollment will remove all your TU Berlin courses and permission to use university facilities and resources. If you cancel your enrolment, it is critical to make an informed decision.

Exmatrikulation can be applied via your TUB account (tuPORT ). You will find the online form in the app "My requests". If a reasoning is required, please upload as PDF (max. 4 MB, file name max. 40 letters).



Termination by the TU Berlin (ex officio)

The TU Berlin maintains the right to terminate a student’s enrollment in a program for a variety of reasons including:

  • None or re-registration after date of expiration
  • If you have ignored the request to pay the administrative fees and have not arranged a payment despite receiving formal reminders from TU Berlin
  • On occasion of re-registration you missed to provide the required documents (check corresponding information on your re-registration request)
  • You have definitively failed a prescribed final examination
  • If you have passed the final exam. The completion of exams, in the sense of this provision, is the day on which the student is advised that the transcript is ready for collection. "Exmatrikulation" takes effect two months later. If you apply to enroll for studies on a different course with professional qualifications or for extension studies within this deadline, the termination of enrollment only takes effect upon rejection of such an application
  • You have ignored the request of your your program-specific counselling service (e.g. in case of poor academic perfomance) and if you have failed to comply the arrangements of your program-specific counselling service
  • Disciplinary measures apply to §16 II 4 Berliner Hochschulgesetz

Things to consider

  • If the termination of enrollment takes effect within 6 weeks of the start of the lecture period, the relevant semester is not included; however, results obtained in this period retain their validity.
  • An existing right to admission to exams upon termination of enrollment is retainded in accordance with the examination regulation.
  • Depending on the effective date of you "Exmatrikulation" you can apply for a refund of administrative fees. Check the "Merkblatt" (see sidebar) for more information (unless termation of enrollment ex officio)
  • "Exmatrikulation" indicated the return of the Student ID card and permission to use university facilities and resources
  • Student ID incl. eTicket will deactivated permanently
  • Termination of enrollment may have significant impact on your student job's, health insurance, financial aid etc.
