Applying for advanced entry to the second semester or higher semesters of a degree program

Applicants who are, or were, registered at a university or a university of applied sciences on the basis of possessing a professional qualification should see here for information concerning transferring university.

Transferring university - What exactly does this mean?

A transfer of university applies when you were already enrolled at another university/university of applied sciences in Germany or another member state of the European Union, or Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway on a degree program identical to the one you now wish to apply for at TU Berlin.
A degree program is regarded as identical when the title of the degree program, qualification and the standard period of study match exactly. Example: Bachelor of Arts to Bachelor of Science = not identical!

Exception: If you are studying on the Culture and Technology degree at BTU Cottbus, you will be classified as a lateral entrant. You should refer to the relevant information regarding applying as a lateral entrant.
If the title of the degree program, the final qualification or the standard period of study are not the same, then the degree programs are not identical. A lateral entry then applies.

Exception: However, if you are or were enrolled on a degree program which is related to the degree program for which you wish to apply at TU Berlin, you may still apply or enroll on the basis of a transfer of university. In such cases you have to demonstrate by the deadline for applications or enrollment that the degree programs are genuinely related and that a transfer of university is thus possible.
When transferring universities, you may only apply for the semester following on from the last semester completed on the degree program at the previous institution. The semesters which have already been successfully completed will continue to count. You cannot be set back to an earlier semester.
The next semester following on from the semesters already completed at another university /university of applied sciences must fall within the standard period of study for the respective degree program at TU Berlin.
You must demonstrate that you have acquired all credits for the semesters which you have already completed and the respective TU Berlin examination board must be satisfied that your credits meet the criteria for advanced entry.

Applying for a semester with restricted admission

It is particularly important that you submit the following:
If you are, or were, enrolled on an identical degree program:

The certificate of enrollment must be submitted as either the original or a certified copy and must include the following details: the title of the degree program, the degree qualification, the number of semesters on the degree program and the total number of semesters studied at university. Additionally we require confirmation of the regular period of study for the identical degree program which you were previously studying on.
