Cut-off grades in selection procedure

Cut-off grades give you information about the average (Abitur) grade (bachelor's application) or number of points of the selection process (master's application) and waiting time places that were allotted for degree programs with a limited number of spots in previous semesters. You can use them to better estimate your chances of being admitted in the upcoming application process. However, this information cannot be used to reach any certain conclusions about admission chances because the grades, points, and waiting times for upcoming semesters cannot be predicted in advance.

The places for Bachelor's degree programs are allocated (after subtracting the pre-selection quotas) equally according to the average secondary school grade and the waiting time. The cut-off grades for Bachelor's programs apply to Germans, foreigners with a German education, and citizens of EU countries.

For Master's programs, since the winter semester 2015/2016 program-specific selection procedures have been carried out. You can find information about them on the degree program websites. The cut-off grades for Master's programs are valid for all applicants.

All previous cut-off grades at a glance see sidebar on the right side ("Download").
